When it comes time to take interesting, or just different photos, the is only one time to do it, when it’s there. I took some shots of rose buds, about 3/8″ high earlier in the day, thought they were ‘ok’ I wasn’t really satisfied. Mainly because the depth of focus was too shallow. I’d been able to get some really sharp edges on the green, including the ‘eyelashes’ on the very edge, most of the bud wasn’t really sharp. During dinner I thought that maybe I should have used a flash, and a lower ISO to get a smaller f/stop.
All that was then put on hold, and almost forgotten when a thunderstorm hit. After most of the storm was over I thought again about the buds. While it wasn’t really raining, I did have to dodge the ‘rain’ falling from a tree over me.
Remember, the only time to get a photo is when it is there. Photos of rain can only be gotten in the rain and getting out in a snowstorm is the only time to get photos of a snowstorm. But please remember to protect the camera from rain, and both the camera and your fingers from freezing.
