Some balloons flew cross country for about 5 miles on Thursday evening. Late in the evening a spectacular event was scheduled, the GLOW, but since most of the balloons were away only a few were left on the field.

Friday morning was another scheduled mass assent but the weather was not safe to fly in, too windy and the ceiling and visibility were below minimums, so the pilots and crews at doughnuts and coffee while swapping flying stories. But the Scheduled evening events started to look good, even to the point of having a Pilot’s Weather Briefing. Then things started to change

This was the precursor of a thunderstorm that sent everyone home, even the vendors in the parking lot closed up and took down their tents.

Saturday morning dawned sunny and clear, but the wind was too high for anyone to fly, the few that inflated their balloons just for show and then had to repack before heading home.
