CAM 2013 starts on Saturday

Ok, some of you may not know what CAM is, and you may ask “which Saturday?” So I’ll start at the beginning, CAM stands for “Cache Across Maryland”, and to answer the second question, Saturday March 16th. and finishes in early May with a Pot-Luck Picnic in a park that for now remains a mystery.

CAM2013I’ll start with what it’s all about. The Maryland Geocaching Society, also known as MGS, organizes 10 volunteer cachers to place 10 caches all across Maryland, from the far west end of the state all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. To be eligible to attend the picnic in May, cachers must find all 10 of these caches, which contain clues to the location of the picnic. The week before the picnic participating cachers will receive the “magic decoder” that will make sense of all the clues collected.

Right now we still don’t know where the caches are, but only the map that gives some general ideas of where the cache locations. At 0600 tomorrow morning the real cache details will be on the ‘net. Then the hunt begins. I will be attending a kayaking class tomorrow morning, a bit south of Annapolis. One of the pins looks like a cache will be close to my route – if I have time in the morning or on the way back I ‘l stop to find it.

I’ll have more posts as the weeks go by with updates on my progress.

As Sunny and Sandy would say “Keep On Caching!”
