Old Gloves

Old Gloves

I was out Geocaching one day early in 2013, looking for the grave of Frank Wyman. I found the geocache and the gravesite and this interesting pair of gloves.

John Francis Wyman (1838-1880)
Born in Syracuse, Onondago County, NY, 1838.
Enlisted in the Union Army, 21 August 1861
Served in Company F, 1st Regiment, NY Lincoln Calvary.
Discharged as QMSGT on 27 June 1865, Alexandria, VA
Married Hester Anne Morehead of Fauquier, VA, on 31 Dec 1866
Son, William Howard Wyman, born 12 Feb 1868.
Settled and operated a farm here overlooking the Middle Patuxent River.
Frank died as a result of a railroad accident on 7 July 1880 at age 42.

Geocaching takes one to interesting places, this is in an unimproved (wild forest) part of the park system in Howard County. Md.

I found that cache in December 2012 and think I recall seeing those gloves, too. I might be mistaken, though. On the way out of the park that day, I ran into Ed (Big E) Antall who is the lead volunteer for the county for the Wincopin Trail. He also used to own a couple caches back there, Hogs Heaven and Treasure Island – Land’s End as “Big Ed”. He told me that he rediscovered (or helped rediscover) Frank Wyman’s grave back in 1968.
