Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall)

Boy do I wish the day was brighter! Driving 50km with the windshield wipers running just to see some waterfalls wasn’t what I had in mind. When I arrived at the sign pointing to Gullfoss parking I wondered if the wind might blow the car into the valley.

But I’m here now, so zip up the parka, zip up the coat, and pull my had tight on my head. The car was rocking in the wind. Stepping around the puddles in the upper parking lot headway against the wind made for slow going the path leading to the falls. If it were not for the 8 m/s wind the day might have been comfortable, but the windchill made the walk to the falls less than pleasant.
Once I was there, the sight was gorgeous. But thinking, all that water was the result of melting glaciers. After warming up in the Gift Shop this I headed back to the Ring Road and stooped at a few more falls.

    Just like being there!

  2. That’s how it is. Once you’re in such a place, the trip is forgotten.

  3. That’s why at times when you arrive you tend to forget all the effort it could to arrive. Nice road trip feel to your story.
