Still On Tow

From the blog nancy merrill photography comes the following.

I love flying. I love traveling and visit new places, and the fastest and easiest way to get somewhere far away is flying. I’ve flown around the world (almost literally). I’ve been to Korea and Europe, the South Pacific and Great Britain. I’ve flown across the United States multiple times.

The challenge this week is Flying

Not too far off the point, but shipping oneself in a hugh aluminum can doesn’t really count as “flying”. The photo below is the start of a couple hour flight by Karl Striedieck, once he releases the tow-line he and his passenger will stay aloft without the assistance of an engine, soaring like birds. Now that’s really flying. But, no it’s not transportation.

This photo was taken as KS was about 100ft above the ground during a takeoff at the Region IV(n) soaring contest in October 2010.
